A Week of Visitors

Last week Deirdre Martin, Senior Lecturer from the University of Birmingham visited with us at the Habla lab all week. What a treat for us. She gave a talk on theories of language impairment and the role of dynamic assessment in sorting these out especially for children from CLD backgrounds. We had a chance to talk more extensively about mediating mediators– that is the question of how to train students, SLPs and so on to do dynamic assessment and mediated learning. I expect this is a conversation that will continue for some time.

Karin Boerger, doc student, bilingual speech language pathologist, and long-distance commuter joined us on Wednesday. She presented on Friday on her research project (or should I say projects) focuses on development of bilingual children’s argument structure. Excellent.
